This qualitative study specifically seeks to illuminate the lived experiences of adults who have graduated from high school possessing both a learning challenge (including academic anxiety, school stress/depression, or an eating disorder) and a significant gift (including athletic, artistic and leadership qualities) while also having the trait of Sensory Processing Sensitivity, the scientific term for being a Highly Sensitive Person.

Qualifications:

⧫ Adults (18 years and older)

⧫ Graduates of High School level of education, or above

⧫ Twice-Exceptional Profile (no official documentation will be required)

⧫ Highly Sensitive Person (self-identification with this biological trait of temperament)

Participation Requirements: Potential participants will answer a short questionnaire outlining their twice-exceptional profile and then complete the Highly Sensitive Persons Scale (HSPS) to qualify as an HSP before engaging in a live, 90-minute recorded and videotaped interview, with a 30-minute follow-up interview to clarify and elaborate on transcript responses.
